The New York AV Landscape

New York has one of the densest concentrations of office space in the country, and much of it was fitted out before hybrid work. That leaves thousands of conference rooms with displays that still work and cameras, microphones and controls that no longer do.

Working here also means working within New York buildings: certificates of insurance, booked freight elevators, after-hours installs, plenum cabling above ceilings and landlord sign-off for every penetration. We plan for all of it from our office in SoHo.

  • COIs & building approvals
  • Freight & after-hours scheduling
  • Plenum-rated cabling
  • Occupied-floor installs

Midtown & Hudson Yards

Class A towers with floor after floor of conference rooms and executive boardrooms.

Financial District

Finance and law firms modernizing client-facing rooms built before hybrid work.

SoHo, Flatiron & Chelsea

Creative and tech tenants in loft buildings where glass, brick and hard ceilings shape the audio.

Brooklyn & Queens

DUMBO, the Navy Yard and Long Island City conversions with high ceilings and larger training spaces.

AV Company FAQs

What does a commercial AV integrator do?

A commercial AV integrator designs, installs, programs and supports audiovisual systems for business environments — conference rooms, boardrooms, training rooms, lobbies and town-hall spaces. The work covers needs assessment, system design and drawings, equipment specification, installation, control-system programming, testing, commissioning, user training and ongoing service. The difference from buying equipment is that an integrator is responsible for the whole room working together: displays, cameras, microphones, audio processing, network and control, engineered as one system.

How much does a commercial AV installation cost in New York?

Cost depends on room size, platform (Teams, Zoom, Webex), audio complexity, the number of rooms and building conditions. A small huddle room with a video bar and display is a modest investment; a large boardroom with ceiling microphone arrays, multiple cameras, DSP and custom control is considerably more. Multi-room standardization usually lowers the per-room cost. Because New York labor, building access rules and after-hours requirements affect pricing, we provide budget ranges after a site assessment rather than publishing generic numbers. Design-first engagements let you validate the budget before committing to installation.

What is included in conference room AV installation?

A complete conference room installation typically includes displays or projection sized for the viewing distance, one or more cameras, a microphone system matched to the room (tabletop, ceiling array or beamforming), loudspeakers, a DSP for echo cancellation and audio processing, a video conferencing compute device or codec, wireless presentation, a touch-panel controller, cabling and mounting, network configuration, programming, testing and user training. We also handle acoustic recommendations and room scheduling displays where they are part of the standard.

Can you upgrade an existing conference room AV system?

Yes. Many New York offices have rooms built five to ten years ago with displays that still work but conferencing hardware that no longer meets the needs of hybrid meetings. We assess what can stay — often mounts, cabling paths, displays and speakers — and replace cameras, microphones, compute and control to bring the room onto Teams, Zoom or Webex. Upgrades are frequently completed after hours to avoid disrupting an occupied floor.

Do you install Microsoft Teams Rooms?

Yes. We design and deploy Microsoft Teams Rooms on certified hardware, handle device provisioning and resource-account setup with your IT team, and standardize the room experience across multiple spaces so every room works the same way. See our Microsoft Teams Rooms page for room-size configurations.

Do you install Zoom Rooms?

Yes. We deploy Zoom Rooms with certified appliances, controllers and scheduling displays, integrate them with your Zoom account and calendar, and configure audio and camera systems suited to each room size. Rooms can be built to support both Zoom and Teams meetings where organizations need to join either platform.

What equipment does a modern conference room need?

At minimum: a display sized for the farthest seat, a camera with auto-framing, microphones that cover every seat, loudspeakers, a conferencing compute device running Teams, Zoom or Webex, and a controller that starts a meeting in one touch. Medium and large rooms add ceiling microphone arrays, DSP, multiple cameras with speaker tracking, dual displays and wireless presentation. What matters is that the components are chosen for the room, not for a spec sheet.

Can AV systems integrate with an existing IT network?

Yes, and they should. Modern conferencing devices, AV-over-IP distribution, control processors and scheduling panels all live on the network. We work with your IT team on VLAN segmentation, PoE budgets, QoS for real-time media, device management and security requirements so the AV system fits your network policy rather than working around it.

Do you provide AV system design and engineering?

Yes. Design is a distinct service, not a step we skip on the way to installation. We produce system drawings, equipment schedules, signal-flow diagrams, rack layouts, budget validation and specifications that architects, general contractors and IT teams can build from. Design can be engaged on its own for planning or bidding purposes.

Can you standardize AV across multiple conference rooms?

Yes. Standardization is one of the most valuable things an integrator does for a multi-room office. We define a small number of room types — huddle, small, medium, large, boardroom — with a fixed equipment set and identical user interface for each, then deploy them across the floor plate. Staff learn one interface, IT supports one configuration, and spare parts are common across rooms.

How long does a commercial AV installation take?

A single huddle or small conference room can be installed and commissioned in a day or two once equipment is on site. Larger boardrooms and multi-room deployments run from several days to several weeks, depending on construction coordination and building access. Equipment lead times, freight elevator scheduling and after-hours requirements in New York buildings are usually the biggest schedule factors, which is why we plan them during the site assessment.

Do you provide support after installation?

Yes. Every system is documented and handed over with user training, and we offer service and maintenance agreements that cover preventive visits, remote monitoring, firmware and platform updates, and on-site response when a room needs attention. See our AV Service & Support page for agreement options.
