Commercial Audio Systems in New York

Audio is where most commercial AV systems fall short. We design and install commercial audio systems for New York offices, meeting rooms, lobbies and venues — microphones, loudspeakers, DSP, paging and background music — engineered to the room.

AV Company New York installs commercial audio systems in Manhattan and throughout New York City: ceiling microphone arrays and beamforming microphones, loudspeakers and amplification, digital signal processing, paging and background music, and venue sound systems for restaurants, bars and hospitality spaces, with sound mapping and calibration for each space.

Remote participants hear the room; the room must be engineered for them.

Conference Room Audio: Microphones, Speakers and DSP

In a conference room, audio determines whether remote participants can follow the meeting. Microphone selection follows the room: tabletop boundary microphones for small rooms, ceiling microphone arrays for medium and large rooms with hard finishes, beamforming bars integrated with video bars in huddle spaces. Loudspeakers are placed for even speech coverage. A digital signal processor handles acoustic echo cancellation, noise reduction, automatic mixing and gain so the far end hears clear speech rather than a reverberant room.

Glass-walled rooms — the default in new Manhattan offices — are acoustically difficult. Microphone type and placement, DSP tuning and, where needed, acoustic treatment are designed for them specifically.

Office Paging, Background Music and Zoning

Office-wide audio covers paging for announcements and emergencies, background music in reception, cafés and amenity spaces, and zoning so each area receives the right program at the right level. Systems are networked and centrally controlled, integrated with room scheduling and building systems where required, and coordinated with sound masking where privacy is a concern.

Restaurant, Bar and Venue Sound Systems

Hospitality audio has to fill a room without overwhelming conversation, survive nightly use and be simple for staff to run. We design loudspeaker layouts from the floor plan, install and calibrate zone by zone, and provide control that staff can operate from a wall panel or tablet. The Amazonico project — a 385-plus-seat restaurant — is an example of a loudspeaker system installed and calibrated for a large-format dining environment.

Sound Systems for Presentation and Training Spaces

Large rooms need sound mapping: loudspeaker placement modeled so speech is intelligible at every seat, with voice lift for questions from the audience and integration with the room's conferencing and streaming systems. The General Motors Building amenity project included sound mapping and projector mapping for a presentation hall and event space as part of the AV consulting scope.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why do remote participants say our conference room sounds bad?

Usually because the microphones do not cover the table, there is no DSP performing echo cancellation, or the room's glass and hard surfaces are untreated. A ceiling microphone array with a DSP resolves most of these issues.

Do you install sound masking?

We coordinate audio design with sound masking systems and can include masking in a project scope where required. [CONFIRM WHETHER SOUND MASKING IS OFFERED DIRECTLY.]

Can audio be zoned across a floor?

Yes. Networked audio systems allow each zone to receive its own source and level, controlled centrally or locally.

Planning Commercial Audio in New York?

From a single conference room to a whole venue, we will design the system to the space and calibrate it on site.
