Quality of Service (QoS)

Network settings that prioritize real-time audio and video traffic.

Quality of Service (QoS) is a set of network mechanisms that classify and prioritize traffic so latency- and loss-sensitive streams, such as conferencing audio and video or networked audio, are delivered ahead of less time-sensitive data.

Conferencing platforms and networked audio protocols publish QoS recommendations. QoS is configured end to end on switches and network policy — typically by or with the IT team.

Where this matters: Video conferencing installation — see how AV Company New York applies this in real New York projects.
